But I don't feeeeeel like working

Posted on May 9, 2013 at 7:30pm 1 Comment

It is pouring rain - a beautiful site for a native Oregonian who has been suffering through a winter drought in Colorado.

I have work piled up to my ears and I just don't want to do it. I'm not answering the phone. I'm ignoring my voicemail light blinking at me. I'm not even glancing at my email.

I'm sorting through old pictures of my children, thinking to myself, "I want to try to draw that, paint that, and that, and that..."

I'm posting a few new artwork pictures, and…

Blue - Adventures in Abstract Art

Posted on April 24, 2013 at 6:11am 1 Comment

I have to share what my husband said about this one called "Blue" in my very limited artwork portfolio.

Help, I don't know how to put an image in a blog post, or if that's possible.

Anyway, the critique was,

"If you paint a white oval around it, it would look just like a toilet flushing."

And then after my face dropped, and I'm sure he was seeing the "enjoy the couch" look in my eyes, he continued...

"Wait, I mean that in a good way - a really clean… READ MORE

Art is fun, and scary

I'm a newbie here at the Art Colony. Thank you for the opportunity to join in.

Today I had a very long day at the computer, and was ready to call it quits when I stumbled on the Art is Fun site. So cool! I read through several of the painting tutorials and can't wait to try out what I've leaned. Thank you Thaneeya!

I have always thought of myself as an artist at heart, but have told people that I haven't found my medium yet. I know so many people who are "real…

Hey Jen,

You are more than welcome :)

So good to know that the wine & paint parties are a success... It is great to meet with other creatives, relax and come up with some artwork! So thumbs up on this one.
Should try this myself - but beer with a possible-chance-of-painting sounds more like it ;)

Good luck with finding Malta on a Map ... just find Italy, go down towards Sicily... between Sicily and Africa... you find a tiny speck... you can's miss it, it is just that dot ;) that is where I live ...

Please don't hesitate to get back to me should I be of any assistance.
Ton-Ton :)

Hello Jen,
Just read your little blog post :)
It is so great to get to know the character who is writing and creating art on the other side of the world.

Had to smile a little at the description of the drink wine and paint?!?! How... adventurous and different! ;)

Please, don't ever get scared of what others outside your living room think of your work; as long as it constructive criticism, you accept it with an open mind and spirit.
There is nothing wrong with trying your hands at different things and experiment - read about other techniques why not, give them a try and see how you feel about that - splash paint around and make a mess - as long as you are having fun, and create something that you really like, no one will take that away from you.
Don't get shy off from selling a piece of either your paintings or the recycled/embroidered denim. If the opportunity knocks, you just open your heart to it.
One day, you really have to share that recycled denim that you did and embroidered crazy things in it. I am real curious of the outcome.

Here you have also the opportunity to share your ideas and creations and artworks with others. We are a fun bunch, who always support and are there for each other :)

Looking forward to see those leaves you are going to create.

Hope you get lots of creativity
