Another Return

Posted on December 29, 2012 at 8:51pm 4 Comments

I guess life is just that way. Things come in ebbs and flows.

I'm back after some time. My drawing was very slow, but I kept at it, but sometimes...barely.

I'm working on some pencil portraiture and doing some review, while maybe sharpening up the skills some here and there. Like anything else, if it doesn't get used so much, it tends to get a little rusty. LOL

Looking forward to having a much better year in 2013 and I'm glad to be here among great art company! Onward…

Back Again

On July 13th my father passed away. I sat beside his bed, holding his hand during his last hours that night, at the Veteran's Home. My husband stood beside me. After lots of soul-searching, I've decided that even tho graphite pencil art isn't my only medium I want to work in. And another big revelation--I am falling in love with abstract art--all kinds of abstract oil right on down to Zentangles and doodles. Now, this is coming from a gal that has enjoyed and learned so much from the art of the pencil and people portraiture for about 10 years, most of the 'art life', actually. I was 100% into realism.  Before then I painted stones, which (no pun…

The Pondering Artist: Are you like me?

Posted on February 18, 2012 at 3:26pm 3 Comments

I am a slower-moving artist. But I know many others who are just amazingly fast. They can complete a new piece in a day or less. I so admire that. But I don't have that ability.

The passing of Whitney Houston has made me give more thought to this subject of my speed and how I progress as I create a drawing. Life is short. We all know that.  I hadn't thought about my own personal speed in my creative process, before.

Maybe I should step it up and strive to do more art; getting…
