About me

Well first off, I am the daughter of another Art Colony member, Annie Kennedy.  I have to thank her for any and all artistic talent I possess.   I started painting about 3 years ago, I wanted to paint my three rescued kitties.  Before then I never painted a thing, I couldn't and still can't draw a straight line.  Two years ago a stray cat named Mamma Kitty adopted me. She inspired me to paint and make blank note cards from my paintings to sell so I could raise money to donate to the HSUS and our local animal shelter, as well as help to feed and TNR the many strays who would find their way to my house.  My main focus is on Cats.  I have painted several commissioned pieces, I recently had an article written about me in our local newspaper.  I sit on the board of the ALMOST HOME COALITION in Lewis county Washington.  I have donated  art to help with fund raising events for our Animal Shelter and our low cost spay/neuter program.  I have 60 plus painting in my portfolio now, most are acrylic on canvas, I have done some computer generated art with my paint program.  I am very excited to be included in the ART COLONY.

Hi Lori, I just looked at your gallery of work and love it and the wonderful work you are doing for the rescue. I am trying to take care of my little corner of the world , one cat at a time. Ps I have five  cats , all rescues.

Lori, in those eyes, you sure have captured the essesence of the cat's attitude.  It can range from "Im ready to be loved now" to Don't you dare touch me."  I had cats for 25 years and all of them totally different in nature and attitude. One adopted from shelter , one found in huge parking lot and the other one showed up on my door step and announced that he was staying with us for the next 9 years.   The one from the shelter lived to be 18.

Last year at school my grand daughter found a tiny, tiny kitten under her car. She brought it home of course. It was a family affair of baby sitting and feeding the tiny baby a bottle every 4 hours round the clock for weeks.  I'm happy to say Percy lives with my daughter and she is the delight of their lives..

Good luck Lori! I hope you are able to get a better idea of the types of presentation that work best for your clients from your weekend event. It's always helpful to have a way to test the ideas out. This should be a great test market for you!

Lori, I would start with matting and framing your best sellers. You can always offer to mat and frame others for a cost, which you share with your clients. This way they can see what the prints look like matted and framed and know that they can choose any print that is to their liking!

Thank you for your nice comments. I use the Paint program. I am still learning what it can do. Have a great art day -- Our grandpa cat, Rama says Meow. At times, he still acts like a kitty. My duty is to scratch under his chin. When I stop, I get the look -- Ha!!!

I am going today and tomorrow to sell my cards, (art) at a pet and garden center, a portion of the proceeds of each sale will be donated to sponsor the adoption of one or more of the kitties on site.  Wish me luck!

Getting ready to put paint on the canvas that I've sketched Charlie on.  Really striving to create something different.  Hope I don't flub it up.
