I began designing mandalas about seven years ago and have loved every minute of it. I use pen and ink, watercolor, markers, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, etc. I have participated in several art festivals...just completed Double Decker Arts Festival in Oxford, MS. Boy, was it hot!
Designing mandalas is a peaceful, meditative art form. I love to put on some soft pretty music and lose myself in the design.
I create mandalas with themes and some with none. All of my mandalas have a name as they all have their own personality. A project I developed that I really enjoy is doing commissioned mandalas...I call them "Living Histories". I get many many details about someone and put them in a mandala. These one-of-a-kind gifts never fail to fascinate the recipient. I learn a lot by doing them as I research many of the details to make sure they are done correctly.
