"Good to have a friend here on ATC.  I have worked some with pastel in the past but it has been a couple of years now since I did one.  Are you doing pastel exclusively, or do you vary things up?  Just curious how it works."

Hiya Mary,

When I began using pastels, I trialed just about everything to do with them. When it came to paper, then personally I haven't found anything that compares with Pastelmat........it sucks up pigment like a sponge, there's almost no dust (bonza!) and it layers up almost indefinitely. In fact I've yet to run out of tooth when using it. The downside is that it curls up at the edges (even the board) and no amount of trickery will prevent this (believe me, I've tried). This can actually be an advantage when framing, because the curl is concave.

If you can afford it, then buying the 50x70 sheets and cutting them down is most cost effective...........Be careful, it's tuff stuff.
