Spring In Full Swing

Posted on May 3, 2015 at 2:00am 2 Comments

Hello there.  It has been awhile since I last posted a blog, though I've continued to paint all along. I tried my hand at oil painting for the first time, about six weeks ago, I was not thrilled. The painting turned out ok, but I was not prepared for the smell of the paints and thinners, (even the odorless kind) and cleaning the brushes was a  constant pain in the butt . Then when I finally finished it, I was astounded to learn how long it took my painting to dry.

With acrylics it…

Thanksgiving 2014

Posted on November 14, 2014 at 9:22pm 4 Comments

Hello again. I have a lot to be thankful for. As you may know. I recently had  a Vitrectomy in my right eye to repair a macular hole. I had lost most of the sight in left eye about  15 years ago due to a macular hole ,that even with surgery, could not be repaired,

I am happy to report that the hole was repaired, and I shouldn't lose any more of my sight.  However, I do not see nearly as well as I did when I started painting last January.

But I am truly thankful for saving…

Eye Surgery

Posted on October 9, 2014 at 3:00am 4 Comments

Hello again, It's October the 8th and it has been a month since I last submitted  a blog. As some of you may know, I have been legally blind in my left eye for the last fourteen years, due to a Macular hole. I tried surgery to repair it, but it did not work.

Last January at the ripe old age of 73, I decided to try my hand at art and began to do a few pictures here and there, I started with a few watercolors, because that's what I'd been given by my eldest son for Christmas. Then my…

Fall for All

Posted on September 8, 2014 at 7:42pm 3 Comments

Well here is is the 8th of September and I am definitely ready for fall. All my important medical tests are over and I got good results, but for the last week or two my eyesight has definitely taken a turn for the worse. I have a torn retina in my left eye which  leaves me almost blind in that eye . My right eye  is developing  cataracts again, so I'll have to be going to a specialist soon. Nobody want's to go blind, but to a late blooming, aspiring artist it's a real…

hi ronnie, first i have to point out that the way you feel about doing art is the same as many of us on this site. i could have written your blog.  i just learned that there are pencils specifically for drawing. i took a few classes, browsed several books and just dove in. i'm pleased when others like my work. sometimes i feel like family and friends are just kind of being "nice". it means something different when folks who don't know anything about you, admire your work. one way or the other, i'm enjoying every second of what i do.

i'd never guess that you've just begun to do art.  you have diverse abilities and styles. and i admire what you do.  i hope you keep creating beautiful work...toodles
