I make pine needle baskets, which are coiled, rather than woven. This means they are started from the center bottom of the basket, using damp, dried pine needles with raffia, artificial sinew or other threads and are either started using a small twist or started around an object, like a wood base, and spiraled outward and upward to shape the basket. You can use various core …

Native American style coiled baskets are beautiful and have very intricate designs. Making them are a challenge, but with persistance and patience you can make one too. This is for an experienced basketmaker. If you already know how to make a coiled basket using thread, raffia or sinew, then you can start to create a Native American Style basket. Thanks for the Friend Request, Shirley, and your comments on the Macaw!
Hi Shirley! I'm glad to hear that my chesnut horse painting reminded you of a horse you used to ride. Yes, you assumed correctly - I have always loved horses. I used to have a purebred chestnut Arabian with a blaze face that I used to show in both open and Class A Arabian shows. He was a very dear and loyal friend, and I got him when he was 18 months old, trained him myself, and eventually showed him successfully. He rewarded me with trophies, ribbons, and best of all, love. He passed away at age 26 on November 30, 1999. He will forever be in my heart, and hope my paintings reflect his spirit. Thank you for your interest!
