Traveling Artist

Last year, my husband and I decided it was time to live out our dream of exploring the world.

We gave most of our stuff to Goodwill, put the rest in storage, and embarked on a nomadic journey that has so far taken us to San Francisco, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. After that, who knows?! We've pared down all of our day-to-day material belongings to fit into 2 checked bags and 2 carry-ons, and we're loving it! Thanks to the Internet, we can still conduct business as usual (and I…

Bio of a Doodler ;) or A Bit About Me.

At 3 or 4 years of age, I was perfectly content to have a piece of plain white paper or two, a fat kindergarten pencil, and an old school box full of broken crayons. I could sit for hours drawing and coloring at the restaurant style booth that was our table when my family lived in my Baba's basement in Ohio. I preferred my own drawings over coloring books any day and can…

Painting Mother

My mother turned 90 just recently. After much thought on what to get her the obvious struck me - paint a painting for her. And so too was the subject matter = the things she loves most - us kids. Weell we are not kids so much as very mature adults now :) My sister and me that is.

Anyway, it was a struggle to make that painting and frankly I am not sure it is right even now.

You may be…

Mounting A Glass Ball To A Walking Cane

A customer has asked me to create a Carved Snakewalking cane and mount a 3" glass ball to the top of the stick.  Looks like I will need to drill the glass ball with a special drill bit, made to drill glass.

Any suggestions?

Back on Track

Soooo I haven't painted in an eon or two. Other than using my paintbrushes for cake designs and other crafty  doodlings, nothing serious has been happening.

Hubby surprised me with an easel, paints, brushes, canvases etc for my Birthday/Christmas. I got the hint...

Currently just trying to get back into the rythm of things. Have done two quick pics. One acrylic and one watercolour. Was looking for inspiration everywhere and all over and ... found some in the hoards of…

I have been painting with acrylics for the last three years and always had a hard time with clouds and water.......also of the paint darkening too much. So  I had some oil paints I bought on a whim a year ago, I tried them and didn't like the drying time so I put them back in the box. Today I was sick of trying to do the clouds and water on a painting and remembered that oil blends easier...........so I took them out and whoa..........I did a painting in an hour of sky and…
