from my new book: 'Shoeless Night. (The Body you are Afraid to Lose)

The Body you are Afraid to Lose

A cry is the harvest of the body.

Blood and sweat is the lord of the body.

Breath is the earth of the body.

Flesh is the bread of the body.

Skin is a second hand blanket for the body.

The head is the kingdom of the body.

The bone is the next of kin of the body.

The knee is the shock absorber of the body.

The leg is the chopstick of the body.

The hand is the door of the body.

The feet is the root of the… READ MORE

New Orleans

Life has been moving kind of fast but time is a man made thing anyway, so let me slow it down. Went to New Orleans yesterday with my husband. It was great kind of cool and the city was not so crowed until after 8:00 pm. We went to Frenchman’s Street, it is great. Most of the bar rooms and places that plays jazz or Blues do not allow smoking!!! YES!!! Then I love the artist market (outside) with all the lights. They stay open until 1:00am. I could stay there forever. We danced and I bought a…

Coming back to the art world after almost 30 years

Back almost 30 years ago I used to freelance.  (Is it still called that?)  That was what I call BC, before children.  Life became hectic even out of control at times.  Even though I had a fully stocked studio in my house, drawings and painting were few and far between.  Other than the occasional painting or sketches, my artwork became mostly helping the kids with class projects and not much else.  I promised myself that when the children were grown, I would go back to painting and drawing. …

Just Thinking

As I finish one painting and start another I realize that I love to creat. I get lost in the paint. I tune everything else out. I try to put myself in the shoes of the person that is buying the art. I want to see what they see, feel what they feel. I talk to them about the painting and get their views, then I pick up a brush. As I paint I see the person and hear what they say. This inspires me. I don't know if everyone is like this but, it seems to help me make it more personal for them. Like… READ MORE

I feel more inspired when people appreciate my work. That's what art is to me expression and response is all what drives me to create.
