I've Been Critiqued!

I have taken a break from my life drawing and still life classes to focus on other things including homework for the Art Foundation Course.  As encouraging as the tutor was, there wasn’t much structure and I felt that I was missing out on something.  So I’ve decided to work on my own for now.

I feel that I require more direction.  I need to sit with someone and have them…

Inspirations and getting started........once again

I find I need to re-group my creative brain every so often and make lists. I often wonder if this is common among artists. I have many talents and harnessing them without squashing my creative think tank is like a fine dance. When I am all over the place as I put it, I like to start fresh, with a sketch book and meditation time out. Make notes and draw in my inspirations. Back at my studio I start fresh with my sketch book and create.

I have just finished out a large compilation of…

Me Silk Painting

Hi there. This is a picture of me painting a Chinese silk scarf many moons ago. Once it was finished, washed and ironed it looked very nice indeed...even if I say so myself. This took me a couple of days to complete and the colors are very vibrant...hope you all… READ MORE

I'm lucky it's raining here in the Bay of Plenty New Zealand.  Keeps me indoors and I have just spent a pleasant hour or two uploading a few pics and generally flicking through this site.  Excellent conept and I shall look forward to sharing in some discussions when I learn how. I'm a slow learner-- it took me several attempts to get my profile pic up there and I finished up posting a pic of my dog so had to edit.

Happy days

Some of my favorite art supplies are rocks!

Rocks have been my favorite art supplies ever since I can remember for some really simple reasons:

1) Rocks are free

2) Rocks are everywhere/easy to find

3) Rocks are very solid/hard to break

4) Rocks have a nice weight which makes them perfect for pockets or paper weights

5) Rocks will last for a very long time

6) It is easy to draw and paint on rocks

7) Anyone can make art with rocks

8) It's fun to imagine where a rock has…

Can you help?

I tried to get a file of artwork from flickr and it got me photos instead 100 of them. Is there a faster way to delete the file except 1 by 1?

Paint your Dream

I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream – Vincent Van Gogh

I have finally dreamed my painting, and that was even before I fell asleep.  After months of painting fruit, flowers and vegetables, I finally painted something original and totally symbolic and significant to me.
