I love to paint with acrylic. I like to use a brush, but I have issues with my hands (carpal tunnel and Guyon canal syndrome). My left hand is worse, because I'm left handed. I've had the surgery on my left wrist, but I continue to have the same issues but not quite as much numbness. I hate working on a painting and dropping the brush against the canvas because my hand cramped up or finger locked up. It is as frustrating as it sounds. I love to paint impasto with a palette knife, but it's…READ MORE

I recently ran across Skillshare.com because of a fellow artist teaching a portrait drawing class there. I've checked it out over the past few days. I just keep coming back to the site and reading more and more.
Sign up is free. You can make videos and set up a class and everything for free. But it does have to be approved first for decent content. Entry fee for students to your class can be anywhere from $10-$35 and you get 70% from each sign up. There's also no end date to classes.…READ MORE

Hi! This is a big step for me.......I have rented a studio in a very famous location for the summer 2014. The shop is small but is on a very touristy boardwalk. Expensive yes...! However it is location! location! location! It is in Cavendish PEI Canada it is very near the location of the Anne of Green Gables and Road to Avonlea sites so there are thousands of people coming to this location every year. So I am expecting to do some business! It will also lead to other venues just because of…READ MORE
Hello fellow artists.
I´m glad to be part of an arty community with all of you. I am a teacher and am lucky enough to be able to teach my passions which are art, dance and creative writing. I´m interested in the link between art and poetry and have paintings inspired by poems I´ve written and vice versa. Would be interested to know if anyone else does this.

At last, the traffic box is finished! Very happy with the finished piece. I never thought I would be doing something like and I surprised myself with how comfortable I was, and still am, when I am immersed in my paints.
But I'm very ready to get back to working on some smaller projects...like ACEOs or something. :)…READ MORE

I had a very odd encounter today. As some of you may know, I've been working on a traffic box for the local symphony. It's taken about two and a half weeks. My life has consisted of breakfast, paint, dinner and sleep. Literally, no room for anything else. I can paint for a maximum of five hours (usually two and a half) and I am dead tired afterwards. There is constant action around me. I've almost sprayed a guy with bright red paint because he insisted on walking RIGHT next to where I was…READ MORE
This being my first blog, please cut me some slack. Not truly a formally educated artist, I do have some education in art passed on to me by my first art teacher; Miss Felt. She showed me how to use different mediums, and also to stop doing tiny sketches or doodles. I doodled during boring classes in high school, and in the process would miss much of the content of the daily lessons given by the teacher. My mother entered me in an art talent contest when I was only 8…READ MORE
I've been working on the symphony's traffic box for...two weeks now. It's quite the challenge and HUGE learning experience but I LOVE getting entirely involved in my art. It's very different from working with an 8in by 10in piece of paper and a pencil or paintbrush. When I'm working on the traffic box, I'm always moving, always masking off areas. I love it. :)…READ MORE
This is the news paper picture of me standing in from of my art. I'm tired by this time had been standing 6 hours. Enjoyed it all and sold lots of prints. People did not seem to want originals but money has a lot to do with that.
So I am going to begin using Watercolors from a tube. Any advice before I get started? :)
