I have a sad habit of comparing my work with others. My mother, who is also an artist, says my style speaks thru my Art. My art is better than some but then I find tons of other Art that I say "Man!! Why do I even bother!!" I've seen some animal Art that are SOOOO awesome. Makes me just cry looking at their talent!!

Hey Samantha First and foremost your artwork is stunning you are very talented. I think we all have the thought at some point creep into the darkest parts of our thoughts - all that is is fear...not what truly is. Don't let it I won't even repeat the word effect your daily joy of creating something beautiful and wonderful to share with others. Art is a personal expression of feelings, the world that surrounds us and always in the eye of the beholder. I love all kinds of art and appreciate truly humans ability to express themselves in the most creative ways. Share your talent embrace it and see what new and exciting things you can create and share with others. Have and AWESOME creative Day. :)

Samantha, your art is delightful. I think every artists thinks that their work isn't good enough, I think this helps us to keep pushing forward to improve our work, but please don't let it get you down and give up, that would be a tragedy. I am just a beginner so I definitely don't think anything is good enough but I love to create and so that is enough for me for now. But seriously it is very hard to be an artist with other artists in the family, we are always comparing ourselves to others - some who have been painting etc for longer than we have been alive lol. I haven't told my Nan who is an artist that I am doing art, I will have to soon, but I keep saying when I am a little better I will tell her. I joined tac for some advice one day and I have found it such a wonderful place filled with lovely supportive people who have such amazing art wisdom and experience. Samantha, you are very talented and as long as you love doing art please keep doing it. One of the other artists on this site said a while ago to only compare yourself to yourself, look back at some of your earlier works and see how far you've improved, I bet its been a great journey. My Nan, who still paints at age 86, still loves to learn new techniques and grow as an artist, I think that is what I aspire to, to keep learning, keep painting/drawing etc and most of all have fun doing it. I hope you continue your own art journey. All the best

hi Samantha, I read your passage a while ago but did not have words for it. Thought it for some time and I have also looked at your artworks, and they are awesome!

I am not a professional artist, and I paint because I love it. When I was kid, I gave up it since middle school partly because my family wanted me to be an engineer; while the other reason was that I found I could never paint things that was showing in my imagination - I was overwhelmed by my imagination and also by the talents around me. I started drawing and paint again about 7 years ago as a hobby because it makes focus and I felt it purified my soul. Also it was one of the things that helped me though my depression.

I love art because it is the thing that touches deeply in my soul and I am always amazed by the beauty that created by God. To me the fine part of arts is the beauty that shows from different eyes, and I don't like to compare with others because once it starts, it will suck all the passion and love but leave the sour jealous in heart.

I use a different way to look at other people's artworks now - it is a communication, and I read a different world from other people. I love the feeling that people use different way to express the color, shape, light, and emotions in their artworks. Also could learn from what I did not do/are not doing very well. It is a way that I feel being inspired.

I hope, you will find peace in you and will continue your own way in your art world. Peace be with you!
