For many years, I have contemplated buying a property in Ontario’s Prince Edward County.  Land of wineries and a very healthy Art Trail, PEC still boasts property prices that are wayyyyyy below Toronto’s stratosphere real estate. Prices are edging up, though, as more and more Toronto people buy vacation homes and retirement properties there.  I want to retire there eventually and become part of that lovely Art Trail. So……………yesterday I bit the bullet and put in an offer on a 2.66 acre property that has not only a decent-sized house, but also a beautiful (humongous!) heated, wired outbuilding. Can you say “art studio”? I am waiting to hear from my R/E agent whether the owners accepted my offer. I am on tenterhooks!

There was another offer on the property--conditional on the buyers' own house selling. I put in an unconditional offer and the sellers accepted my offer, conditional on the other people not being able to remove their conditions. By 8 p.m. tonight I should know whether I won!

Look at the size of this outbuilding! I think I will install skylights.

Congratulations, exciting for you!  And how convenient that it has overhead doors so that you can move the truckloads of art you're going to be selling (and also get all those art supplies in).  :)

Ha ha ha, Donna! I so lucked into this property. I've been looking for something like this in this area for years. Found it a month ago and got it for $44,000 less than asking because the owners are divorcing and want to see the back ends of each other.

For now, it will be a weekend and summer country retreat until I finally decide to retire. My kids are quite excited. I have rented a cottage for the family in the same general area a couple of weeks every summer for years. It's just literally minutes to the sand dunes of Sandbanks Provincial Park  and the grandkids love the shallow water there.

Susanne, I could install welding equipment in that place (I've always wanted to tackle welded sculpture!--and still have scads of room for other art5istic pursuits. And it has a loft, which the little girls will adore.
