Well I finished my latest Pine needle basket.  It turned out very nice if I do say so myself.  My friend asked for a 'fruit bowl' size basket so she could put fruit on her table in the kitchen.  I used a piece of a pine tree limb that I sliced and drilled holes in for the center start piece, royal blue and myrtle green #10 mercerized cotton doubled to sew it with.  I even made a wrapped coil in royal blue as the top edge.  It is 8 in. across and 4 in. deep.  I know she is gonna love it.

I haven't taken any pics yet, but will post them in a day or so.  You can see others in my weaving port folio.  Even more fiber arts on my blog.  The link is in my signature.

I also completed the hand knit socks I had been working on.  Need to sew some of the weavings into pouch's and I will post some of those soon also.

Unfortunately it really tears my hands up to work on the baskets so while the paper cuts/thread cuts heal I am back to my pencils.  I finished one prismacolor abstract rose and am working on a graphite design as we speak.  I can't wait for this stupid shoulder to heal.  Not only did the car wreck hurt me physically, but I am very uninspired for any kind of art.  Probably has something to do with the fact that it hurts???  LOL

I have been viewing everyone's lovely art and just wishing I could gain some control over wet medium's...but I find them messy and hard to control, so I think I will just stick to the pencils.  I do love them, graphite abstract work definitely speaks to me.

Hope everyone is well and your new year is coming along.  As for me, I am just glad the last one is over.

Happy New Year.

I hope that you are feeling better Marsha and that your inspiration is returning! Your baskets are gorgeous.,.I am sorry to hear that making them is so hard on you. I can't wait to see pictures of the one you just completed and described in this post.

And I think it's perfectly ok to work with pencils, and fiber, and wool...and all of the other things you do so well. There is plenty of time to master the wet mediums!
