I love to paint with acrylic. I like to use a brush, but I have issues with my hands (carpal tunnel and Guyon canal syndrome). My left hand is worse, because I'm left handed. I've had the surgery on my left wrist, but I continue to have the same issues but not quite as much numbness. I hate working on a painting and dropping the brush against the canvas because my hand cramped up or finger locked up. It is as frustrating as it sounds. I love to paint impasto with a palette knife, but it's not much easier.
I've been experimenting with clear tar gel. I find it much easier to drizzle the paint. I've made templates of animals and drizzled paint over them. I would like to do a whole series of landscape paintings completely made of drizzled paint. I was inspired by Pollock and Monet's later works.
The problem is that clear tar gel is out of my budget. I'm trying to raise money using Indiegogo. I made a short video demonstration and described my project.
If you've had any success using Indiegogo, I'd love to hear any tips you have for successfully raising money. I've shared my project on Facebook and with Twitter and Pinterest. I only posted it yesterday, so maybe my panic is premature. idk.. but so far only one person has messaged me privately on Facebook and made a donation. I am so thankful that he did that, but I need more help.
I've searched for grants for individual artists, but you probably know that's not easy. I filled out one grant application even though it's for Philadelphia which is about an hour and a half drive from where I live. I'm not sure they will consider my application.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
