Resin Glazing of Acrylic Painting - Has anyone done this?

Curious to know if anyone has tried this technique. Seen it done on youtube by an artist named Wyanne. Was wondering about the difficulty level. Also has anyone done any gel transfers on their artwork? Any tips for doing them efficiently and successfully on acrylic paintings?

Thanks,

Minvi

I have never used resin since it is incredibly toxic. You can't get it on your hands, has to be used in a well ventilated room but has to be protected from dust and debris since you don't want your finished product looking like a chia pet. The stuff is so toxic, too much skin contact can cause liver damage.

How to transfer a photo... Take a medium such as liquitex or golden and paint over you printed copy. Do this about five or six times. Letting each layer dry completely. You need it to be thick enough when released from the paper it won't break into little pieces. Soak the paper for about thirty minutes. Then rub off the paper from the back. The gel will hold the image. If you don't want white edges, cut them off before you start painting over it with the gel.

Thanks Dusty! Just a quick question. Is the medium actually called "Liquitex"? Sorry if I sound naive but this is a process I'd like to explore and don't know a whole lot about the materials I need to get. Does it matter if the photo is in color or black and white? And should the photo be on regular paper and photo paper-- or does it even matter?

The medium I use is called gloss medium and varnish. Liquitex and golden are both brands. Buy it from Jerry's Artarama, if you buy it at hobby lobby or micheals it's usually twice the price.
