The journey of a thousand li begins with the first step (Lao Tzu).

So, here we go: my first blog, my first step. Coming out of the long and cold period of my life, when nothing seemed to work for me, I somehow found my old passion - drawing. I remember myself drawing all the time - sketch, whimsical or doodle here and there, but nothing really serious, mostly just fun. And now I'm ready to put my time and effort in it - there is so much to learn. Feeling like coming back home - calmed, relieved, it's like everything fell into the right place...

Made a few pieces, people say there were good. Found support and encouragement from the staff at the art supply store. So, I'm just gonna stick to it and see how far I could go.

Be bold!

Don't bee too hard on yourself. I  am 74 and just started painting on a whim, last January. I am my worst critic. I over think every thing.  Your work is quite charming. Stick with it. I have lost a large portion of my eyesight over the last year and through recent surgery have at least stopped my deterioration. So I  am trying to get back to painting. The people In The Art Colony  are so supportive. Continue to explore your talent and share it with the world,

Oh keep at it Sam I got back into being creative again a couple of years ago and now I just can't seem to get enough of learning something new everyday. I loved drawing and painting as a kid and now at 51 I am not really sure when life interrupted being creative and doing something the truly made me happy. I am just grateful that this spark has re-entered my life for what ever reason it makes me enjoy life more frees up and inner creative expression and seems to make other people happy for which I get the most enjoyment. It is so true that it gives one a feeling of coming home. Enjoy your continued path of art and creativity it truly is a journey worth exploring and following.

Sam, your work is lovely. I hope that you continue to draw and share your journey with us through your art. As a beginner myself I am having so much fun learning new techniques and trying new things. I find the joy of creating and learning to be such a reward and I hope that you continue on your own artistic journey. I love your bear cubs, your tiger and your cute little bird. All the best, can't wait to see your next piece.
