I was downstairs having coffee with some friends today and showing them the new waterbrushes I got in the mail. Along came the maintenance man. He saw the brushes and asked me about them.

Turns out he's a very accomplished artist.

We had an interesting conversation about his art and he was very encouraging about mine. He did say that when his day job interferes with his art, he tries to doodle to keep his hand "in tune."

I've noticed that since I've been doing Zentangle type doodles every day, my overall ability to render a likeness has improved. Could it be that I'm "training" my hand?

When I was in the Army, one of my trumpet buddies showed me some of his pencil drawings -- WOW !!! -- he was amazing. He was a great jazz trumpet player. People will surprise you with their many talents.

you most likely are training your hand.  I might start to doodle myself and get my brain and hand more acquainted :D  I learned something from your blog today...thank you.  I am always impressed when I learn of someone's talents because it's never usually their full time job :D  I see this at work alot.
