Thank you so much for the lovely ATC! It was a real treat to receive in the mail. Your style is very beautiful and elegant. I'm so pleased to have this as part of my ATC collection! I'm also glad to hear you like the owl I sent you. :)
Anna, I took Spanish is high school and I immediately felt at ease with it as you did English. I studied it for 2 years. I graduated school in 1960 and it was a much different world back then. There was not much need to speak more than English as we didn't have the great influx of Mexicans as we do today. We are surrounded (the US) by water as you know and not by other countries with other languages. So the only real need to learn the languages was for business or such. Now we have many Spanish speaking people in our country and I still use my Spanish as I can but I am limited in it. Now spending my time doing art and everything else I don't have time to spend on a language.
I do love words, though, and I love American english where it is just fine to make up words to add to the language. One fun word is "spanglish" when a person mixes English and Spanish together. I will try to think of some others to tell you. I like to read the dictionary for fun. Do you have a regular e mail address. I could send you some pictures of where we live. If you look on a Michigan map we live above Grand Rapids in the mid west side of the state About 40 miles from Lake Michigan.
Anyway, about the Garden Girl. I painted her with watercolors and then I outlined a lot of it with an artist pen. I could have used a sharpie pen. They are very inexpensive and don't bleed on the paper. The other pen might have been a Micron.
When I started out I tried to paint dignified but since I have focused on the style you see it makes me happy and I have had many others say it makes them happy. That is what I want, to bring joy and love to others.
Anna, you sound like you have a full life. Being a life coach must be challenging and uplifting when you can help others.
I took a calligraphy class and the practice really helped me develop a nice alphabet that I use with art pens to sometimes add words to my art. Garden Girl is watercolor with artist pen. I want to do another one of the same girl but put the garden in her hat.
I want to tell you that your English is extremely good. How many years did you study?
In the small town I was born and raised in there are a lot of people of Swedish descent. We had many Andersons, Saurs, Bjorks and Nyblads to name a few. Anderson was the most common, oh yes and Carlson. There are Swedish Lutheran Churches scattered around the area. Also in Western Michigan there are a lot of Dutch.
Well, I am going to draw and paint a picture of some arrowheads. Do you know what they are? My son likes Indian Culture and I am making a card for his birthday. He is feeling old as he will be 40! He will get over it. Your friend, Judy
Anna, good for you to get some time to do art! Do you work outside your home? I am making designs with stencils and coloring them with art pencils and I also made a design
on watercolor paper with butterflies and stecils. I am going to start painting on it tomorrow. I have a small idea about how I want it but we will see what happens.
What are you doing? I have to post more art on my page but I have been busy. Now I have some days off and will get around to it.
I saw pictures of your Crown Princess and her husband in a magazine. I also saw them in pictures of the British Royal Wedding. They are a nice looking couple and she is beautiful and so is her sister. We are always interested in royalty here in the USA because we don't have any! Movie stars don't count and the presidents wife is just there for 4 years or so. Glad you have a princess for us to admire! Judy
Anna, my great grandmother was from Canada of Scottish descent. She acutally ran away and married when she was only 14 and they came to Michigan! That is probably why I am not a Canadian. We had a lot of Canadian relatives.
I have a cousin named Anna after her but she just wants to be called Ann. I am happy to have a friend from so far away!! Exciting. Judy
