I just joined yesterday 9/2/13. I don't have anything too show yet. It's been ages since I was very productive (about 4 decades). I may be a little shy but I'll put it on line when it's ready. I also have done ceramics and beading.
HeHe... I like the BJD dolls too (creepy yet eloquent at the same time) ... want to do an actual BJD doll one day. Saw a good movie (horror movie) with these dolls, "Doll Master" and they are incredible... the workmanship is so neat and fantastic ... Hmm... your idea is great to draw a bit like their faces - there are a couple of artists out there who delve in this style :) Victorian Dresses ... WoW. Try to find an online fashion museum... some "modern" design elements in fabric/texture/proportions had featured some Victorian trends too ;) Have you tried washes of Acrylic? One part paint and keep on adding water until the paint is almost translucent (try the experiment on scrap paper first to see the result). There is also a thinning medium that can be added to the Acrylic :)

@ Maria I trust that you are finding your way about TAC :)
No need to feel intimidated over here. First time with acrylics; practice is the key - always learn from your mistakes - never be too afraid to ask questions :) No need for art classes for Art - all you need is patience, time, motivation, your good self, and some inspiration. When stuck, feel free to ask questions, visit the Beginners group here on TAC - you can search online for some tips / tricks (I learned some things through the internet and by reading a couple of books) - nothing wrong with learning on your own, you can also try vist an artist at his/her studio and see them in action (if they would be happy to have a visitor) Looking forward to see your progress and development :)
Hello Maria, Many thanks for your comments. Swimsuits are ok... As long as these are not see-through: two-piece, one-piece, even a draped sheet are fine (sorry am not a fashion-guru) :p The importance is that no fleshy part is seen :o
These works you have uploaded are plain fantastic! a Big Well Done on your human figures :)
Don't hesitate to holler should we be of any help Ton-Ton :D
