Well Cheri...without seeing the original of the shared drawing I see two things. 1. Accuracy. ..and this is just a guess like I said. But it looks like things may be a bit off...but even so that's not a big deal...your looking for realism and not necessarily accuracy according to your request. 2. Values and smooth transitions is the biggest thing. In one of my galleries here I have a negative image comparison with an explanation of the benefits of using the technique...I think sometjing like that may highlight what you are looking for. Also you can use transparency overlay to check your accuracy.
Cheri, thank you! I did contact a comic artist friend of mine who agreed to help me with my issues. Unfortunately, he feels the same way my wife does and even though he agreed, he told me I shouldn't waste my time and focus more on marketing what I am good at.
