Alright, about me... I'm bad at this kind of stuff.

Ok, I grew up doodling all over my homework and book covers but never really got into art if that makes sense. I never took art classes, never read about art, never even cared about the art out in the world. Well, that all changed in 2011.

I don't remember why, but I decided that I was going to start drawing again (I hadn't even doodled for years and years) and that I wouldn't stop. Ever.

I began drawing a single panel webcomic called Rogue Symmetry. It actually got a pretty decent following over on a site called (You can see most of my toons HERE).

Towards the end of 2013, I began to grow bored of cartooning and began expressing myself in a more artistically bizarre way. I had made enough money freelancing my cartoons that I bought a nice laptop and a tablet in order to facilitate this new, strange art that I was creating. I decided to start calling my art, 17th Radish.

Throughout 2014, I worked 20-40 hours a week on 17th Radish and was suddenly finding myself obsessed with researching art and seeking out new styles. I began doing first friday art walks every month in Phoenix and met lots of great artists there.

Well, there came a point, last week actually, where I finally got fed up with all the places online to display your art. Deviantart is way too over crowded and getting someone to even glance at your work is a full time job all by itself. Tumblr is full of people stealing images from each other and claiming it as their own or cutting off the signatures and posting the art without credit. I searched and searched for a place that seemed like it was actually designed for artists, and, thank goodness, The Art Colony appeared on my screen!

I am still very new to creating art, but I hope that you find joy in the stuff I draw and enjoy watching me progress.

Medium: All my art is digital, which gets a lot of mixed reviews when I tell people. It's sad, but most people seem to think that just means I manipulate photos or have the computer do all the work. That is simply ignorance on their part and I hope that, as time goes on, people will start to be more open to it as a legitimate art form. *Stepping off soapbox.*

Ok, my tendonitis is killing my arm from all this typing, so I have to end this bio.

well, i just worked out something really cool.

for months now, i have  been going to friends' individual sites, to thank them, etc.

it was very time-consuming, as you probably can imagine!

well, i worked out, that if you go to messages, then sent, then compose, you can select a heap of 'friends', and send one message of 'thanks', say, to all of them at once - yah!

ps that is a great reason to list your friends as a 'friend'. i have almost 100 now! some of them, i don't even know! but some, i LOVE, so... whatever.

Oh my god, I LOVE your work, Derrick!  The way I wish I could draw but simply don't have enough creativity to come up with this stuff!  And yes, TAC is the place to be.  You will make amazing friendships here--welcome!
