Profile Information

After retiring from 30 years in education, I discovered, shockingly, that I had been a workaholic. I had always written and made things and said for a long time, "I make stuff" before I settled into an ease with calling myself "an artist" with any conviction. I live in a small community in Texas called Hopewell and create and paint in our log cabin as well as at my studio in Huntsville, Texas (@HeatonHouseStudio). I write for Hello Humans, contribute to The Huntsville Item (@Kat Bailey on Facebook) and post my writing on Medium. I love to upcycle and spend a little time each month combing resale shops for inspiration and unusual art (@SassyKatStuff).  Life as an artist is good.  My website: hopewellkat.com is updated as I can get to it; but, I'm found on Instagram, Twitter, and lots of other social media sites as HopewellKat, Hopewell Kat, and Kat Bailey.

On being/becoming an artist and acknowledging the fragile moments, steps and stumbles on the path to an intimate understanding of my journey thus far. My most recent essay on Hello Humans.

HINDSIGHT: An artist who always was

I have a dilemma.

While updating inventory in my space at a co-op shop, a flash of horror came over me as I looked at several…

why are we in England, we were brought by the post war English gov after clearance to work here. we always believe Paton would collapse Communism and we would go home. My Hungarian mother had a high opinion of the english. we should have gone to the USA or Canada. Hungary is very mistaken. Hope you like my very different acrylics as much. I find them more difficult than water colours. I have always painted, all through my life, but have to tell you, if you move countries and do not understand the new language and have new institutions, refugee camps and parents etc then sinking yourself into painting is a relief.

thank you so much/ I have often been told I should go to the USA where I could sell as well as paint. I have big problems with some big people in this country. Lab st barths Human Research 4 men have 30+ illegitimate children each, so their families, women friends, and kids use my work they have stolen from my home /5200 water-colours  my whole life's work, 35 yrs. + writings/ sell it as their own work, which gives them a status they do not have. They pay local thieves to steal it- £300 for a box, £50 for a couple of drawings and they can rob what else they want and keep it. lab opens the doors remote with a strong electronic beam on the house co-ordinates. They also hack into my bank accounts.the bossess of st barths Human Research, Anna Brown is the sex buddy of the Health Minsitry men, civil servant Arthur White, senior civil servant Dennis and health Minister Arnold Levi. you would not believe the corruption at the Health Ministry, but that is why they gave her carte blanche to do anything she wants however evil.  the wife of Arthur white, lover of Anna, has also printed a book of my poems, but not put a bibliography. they all pretend it is their work. Thank you so much for your praises, it is a small light in my dark days..
