Selfie - pencil drawing of my own eyes

Hi everyone, I want to draw my own eyes in coloured pencil, but my eyes are a light grey colour. I am unsure how realistic it will look if I colour match the colours 100%. My husband took a…READ MORE

The Aloe Farm

Posted on July 16, 2017 at 6:23am 0 Comments

When my husband mentioned that he and a friend wanted to visit the Aloe Farm (about 40 minutes away from the city where we live) to take photographs, I saw it as an ideal opportunity to get some drawing practice.

Aloes are as varied in size, colour and species as most other flowering plants. What I didn't expect was the feeling of being overwhelmed when trying to draw them in a group. My first drawing was of a single aloe growing by itself on a little mound of sand and rocks. That was…

New Year's resolutions and unfinished paintings

Posted on August 13, 2016 at 12:33am 0 Comments

I am all for having New Year's resolutions, but like many people I have a hard time sticking to them. This year, however, seems to be the exception to that rule - to my delight, I have to say.

When the first of the year rolled around - seven months and a few hundred hours ago - I made myself the promise to do more art this year. Sure, I have always…

When things don't go as planned

It has been a really tough year and I have not accomplished everything I have set out to do. It includes the Creative Journaling book. I am grateful for the people who contributed their art, and am still going to use them (with proper credit). My problem is that I know that 2016 is going to be worse than 2015 - time and work wise.

So far this December I have done two drawings for a writing project for next year (not writing yet) and the story is a challenge to say the least. It is…

Would you like to contribute to my book?

Posted on December 7, 2014 at 12:24pm 4 Comments

With all the writing challenges now behind me - and I am happy to report that I achieved both targets - I am now getting ready to finish the book on Creative Journaling.

Then I got an idea. Since there is artwork involved, and I am not that skilled, I wondered if anyone here would like to contribute to the book. I need water based art and dry medium pieces (pencil and pen) to add to the book. If you are interested, please note the following:

1. You will get full credit for your…
