Doing it for love

Posted on December 20, 2017 at 6:00pm 0 Comments

When I started this latest immersion in drawing and painting, I was looking for my old self that enjoyed it deeply and at times could do it hour after hour.  I had lost that for too long, and was more than ready for the fond memories that came to mind in the early 2000s when I was into illustrating words and verses and not much into images in themselves.  So, I took a formal class or two in watercolor, something I had avoided as much as possible before, and discovered happily that I loved…

Tropical Surrealism

Since Magical Realism is so big in Colombia, I have decided to do a series of abstracts entitled Tropical Surrealism.  See recent postings on the Blog Section of rloliverartist.com.

Abstractions are neither easily definable or easily accomplished.  I find that what I call an abstraction, meaning lifted out of the realm of the specific to the realm of the general, is not seen as such by others, instead, they are often called expressive works.  So, I have tried to…

Thank you RL for the wonderful comments on Raining on the Rock. I think, along with Sydney Opera House, it is the most recognisable icon in Australia.

Hi, I have painted some koi and people did like them but I haven't done any recently. I like the movement that you can capture though - especially with water.

Unfortunately, I have not had time to paint much recently as I have been working but fully intend to get back into it over the weekends and holidays!

Keep capturing photos on my phone as inspiration.

Take care,

Hiya RL, What lovely feedback you have sent me. I love your colourful artwork it is so varied and full of colour which I love. Koi is a type of fish from Japan - commonly know as Koicarp and I have done a few carp paintings though not recently. I lived in Japan for a wee while and every now and then my work reflects some influence from this!

Hope you have a lovely day and keep bringing those vibrant colours to life!!
