"Thanks for your comments, the picture in  no way captures the magic of the street itself and the sky swirls are the photographic capture of the silk weave and not the actual look but i like the variation even if only in the image."

Out and about

Posted on August 17, 2017 at 6:00pm 0 Comments

Summer in France is always busy, the bustle of visitors for workshops and often just to stay and be social for a week or so. The need to step out of village life becomes a must and so we head for the mountains, woods, rivers, waterfalls and lakes all stretching away into the distance leaving life behind. Today at Lac de Lampy i found myself lying in the shade of a sweet chestnut tree and watching the butterflies break the dappled sunlight over my head. All around me were sticks and bits of…

Its dark outside, the heat of the day has settled into the cool of the night and with all the lights turned of except one I lay out a canvas. Been here before, many times, different places, seasons, emotions. Waiting to begin, savouring the moment and in doing so recognizing it for what it is. A meditative connective with myself and the outside, the real fix, creation and expression. Today i am that much more than…

Spur of the moment

Posted on May 17, 2016 at 10:30am 0 Comments

Late at night ,doors open to the garden and listening for the first time to a  musical recommendation of a friend. I am painting a sea picture, again, always!!.  All is going well and for a moment i am too absorbed in the act and reach out for a tube of Prussian Blue, the heat of the day has made the paint more fluid than normal and as i squeeze gently onto the canvas it all goes wrong. In slow motion a dollop of BLACK paint spurts out and i freeze. Lucky for me i am in slow motion so time is…

Here i go again

Posted on May 4, 2016 at 5:04pm 0 Comments

i am waiting to begin, counting time, stretching. Trying to make something of nothing is tiring, extracting an image from the completeness of now brings as much pleasure as pain . The pleasure is the discovery of concept,a pattern ,a mix of colour, a shape forming into something totally different and keeping up as it does so. I paint in a rush, i move through the brush and spread myself on the canvas, every time a whole person opened up leaving a little behind each time i close a…

I love the deep green. As a child I lived in two orphanages and as an Easter Treat, we were taken  for a walk to the nearby forest. I remember it vividly and have drawn one or two pics of it. This wonderful. Thank you for appreciating my 3D picture of Cleaning.. it is part of our life, we see it from the train, from the bus, but no one ever mentions it, till they have problems with their bowels!! we are too clean in the West at times!!

Stephen, thanks for your nice comment on my abstract.  Others have said the same thing, that it reminds them of an insect.  I struggled with it for years and finally gave up and decided that it would be finished.  Not finished in a very polished way, but finished!   Add me as a friend if you wish.
